Epifani Damayanti, 2021. “A Phenomenological Study of Fanfiction Written by Senior High School Students Directioners In Wattpad”. Thesis. Supervisor 1: Dian Adiarti, S.Pd. M. Hum. Supervisor 2: Nisa Roiyasa., S.Pd., M. TESOL.. External Examiner: Muhamad Ahsanu, S.Pd., M.Sc., M.Hum., Ph.D. Ministry of Education and Culture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, Language Education Department, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. This research is focused to understand and identify the process, problems and alternatives in creating English fanfictions by high school students Directioners on @onedfess twitter fan base who write the stories in Wattpad. The purposes of this research are: (1) To investigate the process of writing English fanfiction by students Directioners in Wattpad, (2) To identify the problems faced by high school students Directioners in creating an English fanfiction in Wattpad. (3) To explore how the students Directioners cope with the problems in creating English fanfiction in Wattpad. The methodology of this research is exploratory qualitative research with phenomenological approach. The participants of this research were 18 senior high school students grade 10-12 from @onedfess fan base on Twitter as fanfiction writer in Wattpad. The data were collected through interview and observation. The technique of data analysis was narrative analysis. The results of this research are: (1) all students carried out the writing process according to Harmer's view even though each process has different activities. This happens because students write according to their respective abilities in English. (2) The problems that were often experienced by students in writing fanfiction in English include; grammar errors, lack of vocabulary, writer's block, the inability to make effective sentences, the confusion in applying formal and informal language and the challenge to create conflicts and atmosphere to the story (3) solutions that were usually done by students when they encountered these problems was ask help to their friends, looked up references such as internet, movies, books, and songs, took a break and used dictionary.
