Abstract
Azobacter is an associative nitrogen-fixing bacterium wich is relatively resistan to heavy metals due to its ability to produce exopolysachharides (EPS). The objectives of the study were isolate Azotobacter wich resistant to cadmium from iron sand soil, to analyse cadmium concentration adsorbed by Azotobacter isolates and ability of selected Azotobacter sp. isolate in producing EPS. The result d=found six isolates of Azotobacter resistant against cadmium over concentration of 25 ppm. Azotobacter sp. isolate RT5-1 was capable of adsorbing Cd at amounts of 53,55% and 26,42% in a basal medium containing Cd at concentration of 5 ppm and 10 ppm. The isolate was also able to produce EPS ranging from 0,0086 to 0,0277 g mL
