Abstract

Sweet corn has a high commercial value as both fresh ingredients and processed food products, so it is necessary to increase crop yields by meeting nutrient needs and setting plant spacing. The nitrogen (N) needed by corn at all stages of growth until seed formation. NZEO-SRPlus fertilizer as a source of N fertilizer can control the rate of N released and save fertilizer consumption in minimizing environmental pollution. Adjusting the spacing can optimize the fulfillment of nutrients so that there is an increase in sweet corn yields. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of NZEO-SRPlus fertilizer dose and plant spacing on soil chemical properties, N uptake by plants, and sweet corn crop yields and to determine the interaction between NZEO-SRPlus fertilizer dose and plant spacing on soil chemical properties, N uptake by plants and sweet corns crop yields.The research was carried out from October 2021 to February 2022 in Pliken Village, Kembaran District, Banyumas Regency, at an altitude of 71 meters above sea level and the Laboratory of Soil/Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University. The research design used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The first factor is fertilizer dose (D), namely D0 (0 kg N/ha-1), D1 (50 kg N ha-1), D2 (100 kg N ha-1), D3 (150 kg N ha-1) and D4 (200 kg N ha-1). The second factor is the spacing (J), namely J1 (75 cm x 20 cm) and J2 (50 cm x 20 cm). Variables observed were: pH (H2O), C-organic, N-total, P-total, K-total, C/N Ratio, N uptake by plants, and fresh weight of cobs without husks. The data were processed and analyzed using variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% level. If there is any interaction will be examined using regression analysis. The results showed that 1.000 kg of NZEO-SRPlus ha-1 (D4) was able to increase the value of C-organic by 0.13%, N-total by 0.53%, and N uptake by plants was 74.98 mg N/plant leaves and reduce C/N Ratio is 0.22. Plant spacing treatment did not affect the observed variables, except for pH (H2O) with the best treatment of 75 cm x 20 cm (J1) of 6.61. There is a treatment interaction between the amount of NZEO-SRPlus fertilizer and plant spacing at a combination of 1.000 kg of NZEO-SRPlus ha-1 (D4) and 75 cm x 20 cm (J1) on the C-organic value of 0.13% and P-total 0.06%.
