Abstract

This final report is entitled “The use of English by Outbound Instructor at Palawi Risorsis”. The job training was conducted from February 22, 2021 – to March 22, 2021, at Palawi Risorsis Baturraden. The purposes of this job training were to know the use of English by outbound instructor at Palawi Risorsis, to know what outbound programs were provided by Palawi Risorsis, to know the obstacles and to find the solutions for the obstacles faced by outbound instructor at Palawi Risorsis in using English. In conducting the job training, the writer was also directly involved as part of the Palawi outbound team and participated in one of the outbound activities which makes the writer knew how outbound instructors work in carrying out their duties. In addition, the data was collected by the writer through the observation method, literature review method, documentation method and interview method. The use of English by outbound instructor at Palawi Risorsis was implemented in a welcome speech, giving information, giving instruction, and also in the form of clue card, control card, and rundown. There were three main outbound programs provided by Palawi Risorsis which were Kids Outbound, Fun Outbound/Gathering, and Team Building Outbound. There were several obstacles faced by the outbound instructor such as the limited ability of outbound instructors in using English, as well as the lack of market demand for using English in outbound activities. However, there were also solutions to overcome those obstacles such as conducting consistent English training to improve the quality of human resources and also creating fun outbound programs in English and promoting them nationally and internationally, one of which was by collaborating with external parties such as universities, foreign companies, and institutions engaged in tourism and hospitality.
