Abstract

In recognition of the role of e-commerce in promoting economic growth and social development in the ASEAN region, ASEAN Agreement on E-Commerce was made by all ASEAN Member States and Indonesia has ratified it. In Indonesia itself, the current existing regulation regarding e-commerce, EIT Law, has been long overdue because of the massive evelopment of the world of e-commerce in Indonesia. AAEC is an greement made and approved by all ASEAN member countries as a form of implementation of the economic pillars of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of the AEC economic pillars in ASEAN member countries and to determine the extent to which the implementation of the ASEAN Agreement on E-Commerce in Indonesia. This study uses a normative juridical approach with descriptive analytical research specifications. The data source used is secondary data. The data collection method was carried out by literature study, the data obtained were presented with narrative text, and the data analysis method used was normative qualitative. Based on the results of the research, the three main pillars of the ASEAN Community that are in line with one of the objectives of the ASEAN Charter through the AEC Blueprint on its mid-term review of the AEC Blueprint indicated that due to the implementation of the AEC blueprint almost reaching its full goals, making the AEC a leading regional economic integration in Asia and in its development ensuring place in the global supply chain. While Indonesia, which had already issued Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions before the AAEC, did not include the many rapid developments in the world of e-commerce, therefore a room for improvement is available in order to create a conducive environment for e-commerce in Indonesia.
