Abstract
The designed of school commitess is the form of citizens involvement in school governance, to achieve accoutability. This papers is aimed at analysing the role of school commitees on public basic schooll governance in Banyumas regency. The result of the reserach showed that, the School commite has a stratgeic role for improving basic education. However, it’s role has no optimally implemented for all school. This is depend on how the relation between school commtee and school management (head master). The better the relation between them, the more optimal the role of the commite. Otherwise, it would not be effective
