Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease in humans caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, that most common attacks lung organ. Self-care is one of the solutions to improve tuberculosis recovery. Individual awareness of self-care lies in having self-efficacy. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy with self-care behavior in tuberculosis patients. Methods: This study is quantitative correlation research using a cross-sectional research design. The sampling technique used is total sampling method. The sample size of this research was 26 respondents. This study used a questionnaire of self-efficacy and self-care behavior as the research instruments. The analysis used are univariate analysis to describe the characteristic of respondent and bivariate analysis using pearson test to examine the relationship between self efficacy with self-care behavior in tuberculosis patients. Results: Respondents average self-efficacy score are 50.88 and average self-care score are 77.08. The results of the pearson test shows a significance score or p-value <0.05, and the correlation value of the pearson test shows 0.692. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behavior in tuberculosis patients, with the result of strong correlation between the two variables.
