F., S.S., M.Hum., External Examiner Ririn Kurnia Trisnawati, S.S., M.A. Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, English Language and Literature Department, English Literature Study Program, Purwokerto, 2023. This research is entitled “Disorganized Attachment of Generational Trauma in Domee Shi’s Turning Red (2022)”. The purpose of this research is to prove that disorganized attachment behavior can result in generational trauma. The mother-daughter relationship from Ming and Mei-Mei is the fascinating aspect of this research. Ming as a mother has unresolved trauma that affects her relationship with Mei-Mei, her daughter. The findings from this study are analyzed using qualitative methods. There are disorganized behaviors that make Mei-Mei is afraid of Ming. The primary theoretical framework for analyzing those behaviors is disorganized attachment theory, a theory from Bowlby (1958) then developed by Mary Main (1986), also Lyons-Ruth and Jacobvitz (2008). Of the five dimensions of disorganized attachment behaviors, Ming has three of them: negative-intrusive behavior, role confusion, and disorientation. This research concludes that those behaviors from parents transmit trauma to the childrens. Thus, disorganized attachment caused generational trauma.
