Abstract
Forest vegetation can absorb CO2 in the process of photosynthesis. CO2 absorption is very important to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases, especially CO2. If the function of the forest is changed to agricultural cultivation land, the absorption capacity of forests for CO2 will decrease drastically which in turn can cause an increase in air temperature and can trigger changes in the microclimate of the surrounding environment and can even trigger global climate change. Changes in the microclimate of the environment around the forest will reduce the comfort level of the people who live around the forest. The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential for CO2 absorption and perceptions of community comfort in forest areas and agricultural cultivation areas. The research was carried out on the eastern slopes of Mount Slamet at an altitude of 1,250 m asl and 1,400 m asl which administratively includes Serang Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency. Research using purposive method. CO2 absorption data in this study were analyzed by comparing the CO2 absorption capacity of forest trees per hectare per year and the CO2 absorption capacity of agricultural crops per hectare per year with a histogram display, data on people's comfort perceptions were analyzed using a Likert scale. The results showed that the CO2 absorption capacity of forest vegetation at the location averaged 130.59 ton.ha-1.year-1 at an altitude of 1250 masl and 714.28 ton.ha-1.year-1 at an altitude of 1400 masl, while in forests that have become land for cultivation, the average is 0.031 ton.ha-1.year-1 at an altitude of 1250 meters above sea level and 0.020 tons.ha-1.year-1 at an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level. Changes in the function of forest land into agricultural cultivation land causes differences in the level of community comfort. The community's perception of comfort in a good forest has a score of 95.40%. Whereas in the perception of community comfort towards agricultural cultivation areas in protected forests, a comfort score of 24.40% is obtained.
