Abstract

The application of synthetic dyes in batik production in Indonesia can cause environmental pollution. Pollution commonly due to residual dyes produced during the batik dyeing process is very concerning releasing into the environment. The efforts to improve the quality of water contaminated by batik industry effluent are physical, chemical, and biological methods. An effective biological method for decolorizing dyes is the use of fungi. This research used Aspergillus sp. 3 to decolorize Indigosol Blue dye effluent. The results of batik dye effluent degradation are expected to produce macronutrients that can be reused to realize zero-waste movement. The objectives of this research are to determine the effect of Aspergillus sp. 3, the optimum incubation time, and the macronutrients value produced in batik dye effluent degradation using Aspergillus sp. 3 at various incubation times. This research was carried out experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments repeated five times with 25 units. The variables used in this research are incubation time and the ability of Aspergillus sp.3 to degrade batik dye effluents. Parameters used in this research are measuring the value of macronutrients which are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and C-organic, also observed characteristic of Aspergillus sp.3 mycelia. The research data of macronutrient content was analyzed quantitatively using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with 95% and 99% confidence levels. Further analysis used Tukey’s Honestly Significant Differences (HSD) test at 5% and 1% error rate. The result showed that the treatment of batik dye effluent degradation by Aspergillus sp. 3 result and the combination of using goat urine is affected to produce macronutrient. The incubation at 72 hours is the most optimum period to produce macronutrients in batik dye effluent degradation by Aspergillus sp. 3. The batik effluent degradation product can be used as a solvent in urine fermentation.
