Abstract
This research is titled Analysis of Translation Strategies and Readability of Metaphor and Personification in Nicole Album 2022. This research analyzes the strategies the translator used to translate metaphors and personifications in song lyrics and their readability. This research uses Greg and Thomas (2018) for metaphor and personification theory, Pierini (2007) for translation strategies, Nababan & Nuraeni (2012) for Translation quality assessment readability theory. The researcher utilized a questionnaire to assess translation readability, followed by a descriptive and qualitative research approach. Nicole album lyrics contained 132 metaphors and personifications. The research identifies a total of 118 metaphors and 14 personifications within the song lyrics of Nicole album. Among the data, there are 100 song lyrics that use the strategy of literal translation (retention of the same vehicle), 20 song lyrics that employ replacing the vehicle with a different vehicle, 7 song lyrics contain strategies retention pf the same vehicle with an explanation of the featured similarity, 3 data use translation strategies of reducing the simile if it is idiomatic to it is sense, lastly, there are 2 data song lyrics that utilize the translation strategies of replacing the vehicle with a gloss. Five raters assessed the translated results on the Limahan website and found 120 song lyrics translation to have high readability, while the remaining 12 had medium readability. By achieving an ideal combination of faithfulness, making it necessary modifications to enhance readability is crucial to creating a successful translation.
