Abstract

In the era of globalization, the easily accessible exchange of information and communication allows us to obtain goods and services more quickly. The K-pop phenomenon has attracted attention in Indonesia, mainly through the consumption of K-pop products, such as physical K-pop music albums mostly imported from South Korea. Although this activity has become part of popular cultural expression, its impact on the domestic economy remains in question. Therefore, this research delves deeper into the determinants that influence K-pop fans in purchasing K-pop music albums in Banyumas Regency. This research aims to analyze the influence of age, education, income, price perception, and tastes of K-pop fans on the tendency to purchase K-pop music albums in Banyumas Regency. This research utilizes primary data collected through questionnaires. The population of this research is K-pop fans in Banyumas Regency. The Lemeshow formula was used for sample determination, resulting in 96 respondents. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling, and the data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, F test, t-test, and coefficient of determination, and ensures the validity of the statistical model through the classical assumption test. The results of this research indicate that the variables of age and taste of K-pop fans in Banyumas Regency have a significant positive influence on the purchase of K-pop music albums. On the other hand, the variables of education, income, and price perception of K-pop fans in Banyumas Regency do not influence the purchase of K-pop music albums. This research implies that the central government needs to consider policies to regulate the import of K-pop albums, such as the application of taxes and tariffs, to protect the local music industry. The Banyumas Regency government, meanwhile, can focus on the local economy by collaborating with the central government to promote and engage the Banyumas Regency community in supporting local musicians and providing incentives for local music productions and events.
