Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of translation errors on the exhibition labels of Museum Sandi and how they affect the quality of accuracy. It uses qualitative descriptive methods in the form of observation and collection of the data. After analysis, 87 translation errors were found, which were divided into 10 types: usage (16 data), punctuation (16 data), capital (13 data), grammar (10 data), cohesion (10 data), spelling (9 data), addition (4 data), other error (4 data), omission (3 data), and style (2 data). From the result of the analysis, it can be said that the errors are mainly caused by the negligence of the translator, carelessness, and lack of research about the rules in the target language. This affects the quality of translation accuracy, which is divided into four levels: Accurate (83%), Less Accurate (15%), Not Accurate (2%), and Highly Accurate (0%). The accuracy assessment has been done by three raters who are experienced in the field of translation. Based on the results, it has been found that the entire translation on the exhibition label is Accurate. The most common types of error do not have a significant impact on changing the meaning in the TT.
