Abstract

This research investigates on how much infrastructure held an influence on human development. Human development is measured by Human Development Index (HDI). Indonesia provinces have inequality of infrastructure development. Region that are located very far from capital city are neglected in terms of public services or facility. There should be a correlation between infrastructure development with HDI quality. The purpose of research is to find out the impact of infrastructure on mean years of schooling and life expectancy in Indonesia. The research population are retrieved from data provinces in Indonesia. Data consist of mean years of schooling, life expectancy, length of roads, access to electricity, water availability, and number of schools. The data used was obtained from year 2017 to year 2022. The type data analysis method was used is panel data regression, classic assumption test, and hypothesis test that consists of coefficient of determination, F-test, and t-test. The results show that: 1) length of roads does not have significant influence towards mean years of schooling 2) access to electricity and school ratio have significant influence towards mean years of schooling. 3) length of roads does not have significant influence towards life expectancy. 4) access to electricity, water availability and number of schools have significant influence towards life expectancy. The results imply that research result could prove that infrastructure does have significant influence on human development. Therefore, infrastructure make its efforts through increasing the quality of Human Development Index with public facilities or services suitable with citizens’ need. It could one of various example of public services as a way to improve productivity and living conditions.
