Abstract

This research is a survey research on duku farmers in Kalikajar Village, Kaligondang Sub-district, Purbalingga District. The study is titled “Analysis of Marketing Margin and Welfare Level of Duku Farmer in Kalikajar Village, Kaligondang Sub-District, Purbalingga Regency”. The purpose of this research is to know the value of marketing margin, farmer's share value, price transmission elasticity, and welfare level of duku farmer in Kalikajar Village, Kaligondang Sub-district, Purbalingga Regency. Population in this research is farmer of duku. Respondents in this study amounted to 41 people consisting of 30 farmers, 2 merchant collectors, and 9 retailers. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that there are three marketing channels of duku in Kalikajar Village. The marketing channel that has the least marketing margin value is the marketing channel I with a zero marketing margin. The largest value of farmer's share is in marketing channel I at 100 percent. The calculation results show the value of price transmission elasticity more than one which means that the price change of 1 rupiah at the merchant level will result in price changes of 2.95 rupiah at the farm level. The market formed in this study is perfectly competitive market. The result of the calculation of the welfare rate using the Nilai Tukar Pendapatan Rumahtangga Petani (NTPRP) value is 1.17, which means that the farmer's household has a good enough level of welfare to meet subsistence needs and has the potential to consume secondary or tertiary needs, or save in the form of investment. The implications of the above conclusions are the first, to get a high profit then one of the efforts that need to be applied is to choose an efficient marketing channel among other marketing channels. Second, to minimize marketing margin, one of the efforts that need to be done is to develop the existing duku farmer group. Through the duku farmer group, duku fruit bazaar has been done. With the duku bazaar, farmers can reduce marketing margins because the marketing channels do not go through intermediary traders so the marketing channel is short. In addition, with the bazaar, duku farmer's share is also higher. Third, Farmer’s need to maintain price change information so that the rate of price change at farmer’s level is greater than the level of traders. The rapid rate of price changes at the farm level will result in the farmer's income to be maximized. Fourth, Government needs to the developed the cultivation duku brongsong by agricultural extension. Through the application of the brongsong method, the price of duku brongsong will be higher than that of common duku. So that will increase the income level of farmers, will directly improve the welfare.
