Abstract
The Serayu River Basin is one of the Priority Watersheds of Indonesia that has been classified as critical on the island of Java. The characteristics of critical watersheds need to be known to take appropriate actions in maintaining the balance of the water and soil ecosystem. This study aims to determine the character of baseflow in the Serayu watershed. For estimation of BFI (Baseflow Index) value, monthly debit data for 2000 to 2014 period is used. In this study, the calculation of BFI is done by the VIC (Variable Infiltration Capacity) method, by comparing monthly field discharge data. The results showed that the closer the criteria of error values from the NSE, R, R2, RMSE and PBIAS methods, the greater the success of BFI simulation (NSE> 0.3; 0.3 <R <1.0; 0.3 <R2 < 1.0, RMSE <50%, and PBIAS <25%). The NSE calibration method is 0.341 and validation is 0.214. R calibration method of 0.562 validation of 0.487, R2 calibration method of 0.315 validation of 0.237, RMSE calibration method of 7,710 m3 / s validation of 5,639 m3 / s, and PBIAS calibration method of 28,637% validation of 29,617%, and baseflow Index have a relationship with changes in land cover. This value indicates that the calibration meets the criteria of the five methods and the validation of the NSE method does not meet the criteria. This causes the VIC model in the validation process to provide a value of accuracy that is lacking. BFI trends tend to be constant but annual fluctuations occur slowly. BFI fluctuation decreased between the years 2000 to 2014 is directly proportional to the decrease in green land from 2000 to 2010, then the trend of BFI can be used as a prediction of changes in green land use. Keywords: Serayu River Basin, VIC, Land Use, Baseflow Index.
