Abstract

This research uses descriptive quantitative method and uses Central Java Province as the location of the research, this research is a time series research with secondary data. This study aims to find out and analyze the factors that influence the price of rice in Central Java. The dependent variable used in this study is the price of rice, while the independent variable in this study is the price of grain, the Consumer Price Index, population, and the volume of rice imports. The update in this study is the place, time, and variables used. The method of analysis conducted in this study is multiple linear regression analysis using eviews 9 as an analytical tool. The results showed that: (1) the price of grain, and the consumer price index influenced the price of rice in Central Java Province, the price of grain affected positively on the price of rice and the Consumer Price Index had a negative effect on the price of rice. Population and volume of rice imports have no effect, (2) the price of grain is the most influential variable on the price of rice in Central Java. The implication of the above conclusion is that grain is the variable that has the most influence on rice prices, and the consumer price index has a negative effect on rice prices, when the consumer price index rises, rice prices will fall, in order to maintain the balance and stability of rice prices. The government must be able to make appropriate government purchase prices and highest retail prices in accordance with market conditions, so that economic actors are producers and consumers do not experience losses.
