Abstract

Participation is an important part of the concept of community empowerment which is often interpreted as the participation, involvement, and equality of community members. One of the community's participation is in the waste management program through the Waste Bank. The waste bank is a place to store waste that has been selected according to the type of waste, the waste stored in the waste bank is waste that has economic value. Waste will have economic value if it is present in sufficient quantities to be traded or further processed as economic goods, both as raw materials (recycled) and as trading commodities. The population in this study were people in Jatiasih Bekasi District. A sample of 100 respondents was selected using the proportionate random sampling method. Data collection is done through the method. The analysis used is logistic regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that factors related to community participation in the waste bank program in Jatiasih Bekasi are known that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, having ART, and household income with the level of community participation. Meanwhile, the variable level of education and number of family members are not significantly related to community participation in the waste bank program. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that the community can increase a proactive attitude and tend to care from every citizen in maintaining and reducing environmental pollution, at least towards themselves. In addition, at the level of education, cooperation and the role of parents and teachers are considered very necessary and important and must continue to be carried out in an effort to convey information on the process of environmental pollution.
