Abstract
Over the last decade, BRICS+ has evolved from a small economic coalition into the Global South’s largest intergovernmental forum, now comprising 11 member states. This expansion presents a strategic paradox: while increased material power strengthens the bloc’s ability to counterbalance Northern hegemony, the inclusion of diverse members amidst rising global tensions threatens its cohesion. Utilizing Analytical Eclecticism, this paper pragmatically evaluates BRICS+ by drawing mainly from Neorealism, Neoliberalism, and Constructivism paradigms. Through an analysis of power dynamics, institutional capacity, and identity projection, the study concludes that while expansion follows a rational logic of power and institutionalism, the bloc's future as a viable strategic alternative depends on its ability to forge a unified collective identity among its diverse membership.
