Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of work overload, work environment, and work-life balance toward work stress and the effect of work stress on job satisfaction, then use adversity quotient as a moderating variable between work stress and job satisfaction. This research was conducted in February-March 2018 in travel service company Qyta Trans. The population of this study was all workers in travel service company Qyta Trans and the sampling was done using accidental sampling method. Total respondents were 72 respondents and used questionnaires as data retrieval method. Respondents from this study are the Qyta Trans travel drivers. The tool of analysis used in the study is Partial Least Square (PLS) using SmartPLS 3 program. The results of this study revealed that: (1) work overload has a positive effect on work stress, (2) work environment negatively affect work stress, (3) work-life balance negatively affect work stress, (4) work stress negatively affect job satisfaction, (5) adversity quotient moderate the effect of work stress on job satisfaction. The implication of the conclusion below suggests that adversity quotient training can be applied as a facility for workers, especially for travel drivers in Qyta Trans, because the knowledge and the application of adversity quotient will help them in facing with various problems or diversities that occurred either inside or outside the workplace. In this case, adversity quotient can also maintain or improve job satisfaction of workers even though they often experience work stress.
