Abstract

This research entitled “Young Adult’s Responses on Inhuman Act in Richard Kadrey “Still Life with Apocalypse” is aimed to figure out the young adult’s responses on inhuman act issue depicted in Richard Kadrey “Still Life with Apocalypse”. Futhermore, the research used qualitative method since it deals with the people’s opinion and experience. Moreover, there are some steps in analyzing the data to answer the research question. The first is distributing pre and post reading questionnaire to the respondents. Second, performing an interview section to get deeper information. Third, reducing the data in order to achieve a good analysis. Finally, concluding the analysis. Accordingly, the discussion of this study is divided into three main parts; the first part contains the respondent’s responses toward the characteristics of the characters and respondents’ response to the story, the second part is respondent’s feeling and consideration toward characters behavior ant action, and the last is the part of inhuman act in the story and reader’s imagination on the situation in real life. The result shows most of respondents say that inhuman act is the way of survive by the characters in the story that make the action is normal to be the way of survival by the respondent to the other characters in the story. Subsequently, the respondents agree that inhuman act will be accepted in chaos society. At last, the respondents use their subjective motive in creating the response. The reason behind those responses can be viewed from the way they bring the norms, culture and personal belief.
