Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and body mass index of 2017 Physical Education students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology : The research method used a cross sectional design, namely one time data collection. The sampling technique was purposive sampling collected from 41 unsoed physical education students from the class of 2017 consist of 31 males and 10 females. The data analysis technique being used is the pearson correlation. Research result : Based on the results of research on the physical activity of students majoring in physical education Unsoed class 2017 during the covid-19 pandemic is at the moderate level of 39% (16 people), the low level of physical activity is 24.4% (10 people) and the physical activity level High was 36.6% (15 people) while Body Mass Index (BMI) was in the fat category of 39% (16 people), the thin category was 2.4% (1 person) , the normal category was 31.7% (13 people), the obesity I category was 24.4% (10 people) and the obesity II category was 2.4% (1 person). Pearson correlation analysis states 0,02 (p < 0,05). Conclusion : Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between physical activity and body mass index (BMI) in Unsoed physical education students class of 2017 during the covid-19 pandemic. Lack of physical activity level causes physical education students to have an abnormal or not ideal BMI (fat or obese). Keywords : Physical Activity, BMI, Physical Education Students, Covid-19.
