Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris. Program Studi Sastra Inggris, Purwokerto. The objectives of the study are to identify the types of translation techniques and to find out the most dominant type of the translation techniques used in the translation of Harry potter and The Goblet of Fire. The study used a borrowing technique translation theory. Borrowing translation technique is a method of finding basic meaning that the translator makes a conscious choice to use the same word in the target text as it is found in the source text. It provides the description of situation or events or occurrences. .The data in this analysis were cited and grouped based on the borrowing techniques used to translate the source language into the target language using the pure borrowing technique and naturalized borrowing technique proposed by Molina & Albir (2000:84). From the analysis of borrowing technique used to translate the source language into the target language using two types of borrowing techniques, namely: (1) Pure Borrowing, in this theory found 55 % it consist of 11 exampes of pure borrowing (2) Naturalized Borrowing, in this theory found 45 % it consist of 9 examples of naturalized borrowing. This technique also allows the translator to put a text clearly within a particular cultural context through the register of the vocabulary it uses. The finding of the research is that the borrowing technique will refer to pure borrowing technique. Pure borrowing are the most widely data was used in the theory more than naturalized borrowing.
