Abstract
The research entitled “The Children’s Changing Perspectives about Getting A Bad Score in A Bad Grade on Christmas Night Using Transactional Reader-Response Theory” aims to know the 8-years-olds’ perspectives about the issue of getting a bad score at school. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data. The primary data of this research is the result of interview with the respondents about getting a bad grade at school. The transactional reader response theory by Louise Rosenblatt is used to support the primary data. Then, the secondary data of this research are taken from journals, articles, and online research related to the transactional reader-response theory, psychology of children, and grading in Indonesia. The result of this research shows that there are four respondents who experience a change in perspective about the issue of getting a bad score at school and one respondent does not. The four respondents aged 8 years experiences a change in perspective about the issue of getting a bad score because they read with an aesthetic and efferent approach while one respondent who does not experience a change in perspective because he only reads with an efferent approach. The respondents who experience a change in perspective are the first respondent (an excited kid), the second respondent (an unyielding kid), the third respondent (an easy-going kid), and the forth respondent (a caring kid) while the respondent who reads with an efferent approach is the fifth respondent (a joyful kid)
