Abstract

This final report is based on independent job training that was conducted on March – Mei 2022. The purpose of this job training is to translate a children’s book and explaining the process of translating, explaining the technique translating, explaining the problem and solution of translating, and apply the translation theories that have been learned during the lecture period. The children book, Tania and The Mystery Smoker, was chosen because it has moral values such as helping others, frendship, and working cooperation in solving mysteries. The writer also third applied steps of translating. Those steps were analyzing the source language, transferring the message from the source language into the target language, and restructuring the message in the target language. Then writer also uses five translation techniques, were used in the translating process of this children’s book. The techniques were adaption, borrowing, description, amplification, and literal translation. Meanwhile in the implementation of job training, the writer had several obstacles. There are obstacles in the process of translating a children’s book such as lack of understanding sentences, and the error of meaning from the source language into the target language. Because of these obstacles the writer has solution there are needs a detailed understanding so as to produce an acceptable translation in the target language, and consulted with supervisor.
