Abstract

Background: Elderly who have comorbidities are a vulnerable group and are at risk of death from Covid-19. Health-seeking behavior in the elderly is important to know in depth, especially if an area has a large number of elderly people, such as in Karangklesem Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and health-seeking behavior in elderly people who have comorbidities during the transition period of the Covid-19 pandemic in Karangklesem Pekuncen Village. Method: This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional research design. Sampling used total sampling with a total of 115 elderly aged ≥ 60 years who fit the research criteria in Karangklesem Village, Pekuncen, Banyumas. Test analysis using the Spearman Rank Correlation Test. Research Results: The majority of respondents received sufficient social support (67.8%) and performed health-seeking behavior in sufficient category (83.5%). The results of the Spearman Rank test between the two variables obtained a p value = 0.000 (p value <0.05) and a coefficient value of 0.674. Conclusion: Social support has a significant relationship with health-seeking behavior of elderly who have comorbidities during the transition period of the Covid-19 pandemic in Karangklesem Pekuncen Village and has a positive relationship direction and a relatively strong relationship.
