Abstract

This Job Training Report is based on the job training in July - August 2022. The purposes of this job training report are; 1) to translate TED Talks “The Cure for Burnout” by Emily and Amelia Nagoski and “How to Turn Burnout into Breakthrough” by Oma Agbai, 2) to find the translation process in translating the talks, 3) to explain the obstacles in translating the talks, 4) to find the solution to overcome obstacles in the process of translating the talks. TED Talks “The Cure for Burnout” by Emily and Amelia Nagoski and “How to Turn Burnout into Breakthrough” by Oma Agbai discuss how to deal with burnout if we experience it. The topic that they discussed in the talks is important because it is relatable to daily life which can have burnout anytime. The talks will be useful for those who experiencing burnout and also for those who never experiencing burnout as the knowledge. In translating TED Talks Emily and Amelia Nagoski’s “The Cure for Burnout” and Oma Agbai’s “How to Turn Burnout into Breakthrough”, there are four stages in the translation process, they are: 1) analyzing, 2) transferring, 3) restructuring, and 4) evaluation and revision. There are obstacles in the translation process, such as a lack of knowledge of some unfamiliar words and idioms so it is difficult to convey the right equivalent of the word that is accurate in the source language. These obstacles are overcome by increasing reading sources such as books, journals, and other reading sources to increase knowledge and can be used as references in writing this job training report. The supervisors also provide help to carry out the consultations in writing this job training report.
