Abstract
The research entitled “Examining Cinderella’s Story in Jon M Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians (2018)” aims to figure out the pattern of Cinderella Story in Crazy Rich Asians (2018) movie. The researcher used a qualitative method to analyze the data taken from the movie. This research used Genre Study which focuses on Cinderella/Romance story formula and Cinematography theory to analyze the scenes so that it meets the objective of the study. The results of this study indicate that Crazy Rich Asians (2018) movie has a formula similar to the story of Cinderella or romance story in general. Out of the seven-formula of romance story used to analyze the movie, there are five formulas found namely (1) Almost perfect hero figure, (2) The ordinary heroine figure, (3) Heroine receives a gift from the hero, (4) Facing obstacle, and (5) a Happy Ending.
