Abstract
The research aims to know the accuracy and acceptability of humor translation of SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 1-3. Through the use of questionnaires completed by 3 raters based Nababan (2012) on criteria and demands, examine whether translations are deemed humorous in the Original English is also perceived as such by Indonesian watchers. This research was analyzed using Berger's (2017) selected types of humor theory so that the researcher could readily categorize data into distinct classes that may be known of the sort of humor that is not well received for target language. By 72 data of humor translation, the results show they are less accurate (2,16%) and quite acceptable (2,30%). One of the reasons is the translator frequently retains foreign terms and uses the incorrect diction plus with deletion, which makes wordplay in particular inaccurate but stil can be quite acceptable as some the humorous element are still well received for the intended audience
