Abstract

In 2020 the demand for batik in Sokaraja Kulon village decreased which resulted in the number of artisans in the village also experiencing a decline so that batik craftsmen in Sokaraja Kulon village gradually switched professions that were more profitable for them. This study aims to examine the effect of variables on the demand for batik in the village of Sokaraja Kulon. The variables are prices, income, gender, age and matched. The data used is primary data obtained from interviews or questionnaires from consumer who buys batik. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling with the total sample of 30 respondents, in which the sampling aims to obtain specific information from the group. The analytical tool used is multiple linear regression using the classical assumption test, f test, and t test. The results of this study together show that the variable price, income, gender, age and taste have a significant effect on the demand for batik in the village of Sokaraja Kulon. Then price has a negative and significant effect on the demand for batik, income has a significant positive effect on demand, and tastes have a positive and significant effect on the demand for batik in Sokaraja Kulon village, while other variables have no significant effect on the demand for batik in Sokaraja Kulon village. The implication of the conclusion above is the need to set prices that suit for community by sellers and vary the types of batik so that the demand for batik in Sokaraja Kulon village does not continue to decline.
