Abstract

The report entitled "Translating New Small World’s Leaflet and Booklet" and based on the job training activities that had been done in New Small World. The main purpose of the job training is to offer translated materials of their lealet and booklet. There are three methods to obtained the data, observation, interview, and literature study. Observation is a technique to collect data by observing an object, condition or situation, process in this case the objects are the rides, attractions and facilities of New Small World. Interview is a technique where the writer seeks information by performing a question and answer activity with some people, they are Mr. Kuat as the owner New Small World, Mr.Mulyo as the manager, Mr. Demi and Mr. Nova as the staff. This Job Training that the writer had carried out during 1 month period resulted two translated materials of their leaflet and booklet. The one-month job training, succeeded in producing 2 translated materials. These 2 products are the translated leaflet and booklet from Indonesian to English. During this job training, there are several obstacles and problems that must be faced. The writer must find the best solution to solve the problems such as analyzing the contents properly to find the best equivalent words and inserting the result of the translation to the format and designs that have been provided by the management while trying to fit all the result and maintaining the format, design and elements. These obstacles and problems were also overcome by reading references about the target language that can be found online, comparing other object description in another promotion media and searching the most suitable equivalent word. Laporan ini berjudul "Penerjemahan Leaflet dan Buklet New Small World" dan didasarkan pada kegiatan pelatihan kerja yang telah dilakukan di New Small World. Tujuan utama dari pelatihan kerja ini adalah untuk menawarkan materi terjemahan dari leaflet dan booklet mereka. Ada tiga metode yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data, yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan studi literatur. Observasi adalah teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara mengamati suatu objek, kondisi atau situasi, proses dalam hal ini objek yang diamati adalah wahana, atraksi dan fasilitas yang ada di New Small World. Wawancara adalah teknik dimana penulis mencari informasi dengan melakukan kegiatan tanya jawab dengan beberapa orang, yaitu Bapak Kuat selaku pemilik New Small World, Bapak Mulyo selaku manajer, Bapak Demi dan Bapak Nova selaku staff. Pelatihan kerja yang penulis lakukan selama 1 bulan ini menghasilkan dua materi terjemahan berupa leaflet dan booklet. Job Training yang dilakukan selama 1 bulan ini, berhasil menghasilkan 2 materi terjemahan. Dua produk tersebut adalah leaflet dan booklet yang diterjemahkan dari bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Inggris. Selama menjalani pelatihan kerja ini, ada beberapa kendala dan masalah yang harus dihadapi. Penulis harus mencari solusi terbaik untuk menyelesaikan masalah seperti menganalisis konten dengan baik untuk menemukan padanan kata yang tepat dan memasukkan hasil terjemahan ke dalam format dan desain yang telah disediakan oleh manajemen sambil berusaha untuk menyesuaikan semua hasil terjemahan dan mempertahankan format, desain, dan elemen-elemennya yang sudah ada. Semua masalah dan rintangan yang ada dapat dilalui dengan membaca reerensi tentang Bahasa target yang dapat ditemukan secara online, membandingkan deskripsi objek lain yang ada di media promosi lain dan mencari kata padanan yang paling tepat.
