Abstract
The number of traditional markets dominates trade in Indonesia, thus requiring attention from the government in development and maintenance. The government's role in maintaining the market and controlling the traders is very important, especially if there is an unpredictable disaster such as the fire that occurred at Pasar Wage Purwokerto in 2020. The government, market managers and traders must work together in finding alternatives, so that there is no gap or social jealousy between relocated and non-relocated traders due to differences in the number of buyers and income earned. The purpose of this study was to compare the number of buyers and income of relocated and non-relocated traders in Purwokerto Wage Market. The population in this study was 104 consisting of 52 relocated traders and 52 non-relocated traders. The slovin formula was used to determine the minimum sample size. The data collection technique used an interview method through a questionnaire. Data were tested for normality using Kormogorov Smirnov and showed that the data were not normally distributed, therefore the data analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon Test. The results of this study show that there is a difference in the number of buyers between relocated and non-relocated traders by 36.6 percent, with the average number of buyers in non-relocated traders in a month reaching 71 buyers per month, while relocated traders only 45 buyers per month. It was also found that there is a difference in income between relocated and non-relocated traders by 28.8 percent, with the average income of non-relocated traders being 1,756,730.77 per month, while the relocated ones are only 1,250,000.00 per month. The implication of this research is that the local government should provide stall facilities that are in accordance with the previous traders' stalls and provide other alternatives so that buyers are interested in visiting the relocated traders' locations. for traders to be able to adapt to conditions with alternatives to marketing their merchandise through social media and or traveling trade.
