Kata Kunci : Metafora, Makna, Majas, Music from Another Dimension Penelitian yang berjudul An Analysis of Metaphor in Aerosmith Fifteenth Album entitled Music from Another Dimensio ini bertujuan untuk menemukan tipe majas metafora dan menjelaskan maknanya dari data yang telah ditemukan. Identifikasi dari majas metafora didasari oleh teori dari Lakoff dan Johnsen (2003) yang membagi metafora menjadi tiga tipe yaitu struktural, orientasional dan ontologikal. Kemudian penjelasan makna yang terkandung dalam masing-masing lirik diinterpretasikan menggunakan teori Leech (1974) yang hanya fokus pada dua makna yaitu makna denotatif dan konotatif. Namun penjelasan majas metafora hanya menggunakan makna konotatif. Makna denotatif disini digunakan sebagai perbandingan dengan makna konotatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Sumber data adalah album kelimabelas Aerosmith yang bejudul Music from Another Dimension dan data utama adalah ungkapan yang terdapat pada lirik lagu yang menandakan majas metafora. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan dan teori semantik untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Penulis menggunakan beberapa langkah dalam menganalisis data, yaitu mengklasifikasikan data metafora ke dalam tiap tipenya berdasarkan teori Lakoff dan Johnsen, mendeskripsikan makna dari metafora yang ditemukan di objek, serta membuat kesimpulan dari semua data yang telah diteliti. Populasi dalam penelitian ini diambil dari lirik lagu yang mengindikasikan majas metafora dalam album kelimabelas Aerosmith. Purposive sampling digunakan dalam menentukan sampelnya. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah macam-macam tipe metafora dan maknanya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa data yang mengandung majas metafora berjumlah 45 yang terbagi dalam: tipe struktural sebanyak 17 data, orientational sebanyak 12 data, dan ontological sebanyak 16 data. Dari ketiga tipe tersebut, metafora struktural adalah tipe yang paling dominan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa Aerosmith selalu mendeskripsikan lagunya sesuai dengan makna metafora struktural tersebut. Wibowo Widyatmoko Achmad. 2017. Key words : Metaphor, Meaning, Figure of Speech, Music from Another Dimension The research entitled “An Analysis of Metaphor in Aerosmith’s Fifteenth album entitled Music from Another Dimension” aims to find the types of metaphor and to explain the meaning of the data found. The identification of metaphor is based on Lakkof and Johnsen theory (2003) which is divided into three types, those are structural, orientational, and ontological. Then the description of meaning contained in each lyric is interpreted using Leech’s theory (1974) which only focuses on two meanings, those are connotative and denotative. However, the description of metaphor only use connotative meaning. Denotative here is used in comparison with connotative meaning. The researcher used qualitative method in analyzing the data. The data source was Aerosmith’s fifteenth album entitled Music from Another Dimension and the main data was the utterances of the song lyrics indicating metaphor. This research applied semantic approach and theory to answer the research questions. In analyzing the data, the researcher took some steps. There were classifying the data of metaphor into its types based on Lakoff and Johnsen theory, describing the meaning of metaphors found in the object, and drawing the conclusion from all the data that have been analyzed. The population of this research was taken from the song lyrics indicating metaphor in Aerosmith’s fifteenth album. The purposive sampling was taken in determining the sample. The samples of this research were the various types of metaphor and their meaning. The result of this research shows that the data contained metaphor are 45 data which are divided into: structural metaphor are 17 data, orientational are 12 data, and ontological are 16 data. The most dominant type is structural form those three types. Therefore, the researcher concluded that Aerosmith always describe their song based on the meaning of structural metaphor itself.
