Keywords: Category Shift, Noun Phrases, Translation Techniques, Catford and Molina and Albir Theory, Frozen Movie This research investigated Category Shift Of Noun Phrases and Its Translation Techniques used by two characters Elsa and Anna of Frozen movie. There were two problems that analyzed in this research. They were (1) What kinds of category shift of noun phrase find in subtitle of movie “Frozen” Based on the theory proposed by Catford (1965) and (2) How techniques are used in the subtitling of movie “Frozen” by using Molina and Albir (2002) theory. In this research used qualitative descriptive, because the data were analyzed and described in the form of words and sentences. The data were taken from the conversation uttered by two characters of Frozen Movie. Then, the data were identified and analyzed based on the kinds of category shift of noun phrase based on Catford’s theory (1965). Furthermore, the data were analyzed based on Translation Techniques theory proposed by Molina and Albir (2002). The findings show that three kinds of category shift of noun phrases of Frozen movie, they are structure shift, class shift, and intra system shift. Its translation techniques are used six techniques, they are literal translation, established equivalence, borrowing, modulation, generalization, and variation.
