Abstract
Background: Suicide rates in Indonesia continue to rise, with university students being the most affected group, highlighting the importance of early detection of stress, anxiety, and depression that can compromise mental health. Involvement in organisations, such as the Student Executive Board (BEM), can support intellectual, social, and spiritual development. However, joining organisations needs to consider the balance between demands and responsibilities in order to maintain mental well-being. Research Aim: To determine the relationship between involvement in university-level Student Executive Board (BEM) organisations with stress, anxiety, and depression in university students. Methodology: Quantitative approach with a correlational design of 151 Student Executive Board (BEM) administrators for the 2024 period. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling, and data analysis was carried out with the spearman rank test. Research Results: There was no significant relationship between organisational involvement and levels of stress (p-value = 0.197), anxiety (p-value = 0.280), and depression (p-value = 0.233), as the p value was greater than 0.05. Conclusion: This study shows that the intensity of organisational involvement does not have a significant impact on the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression in university students. Other factors are more dominant in influencing these conditions. Responses to stress, anxiety, and depression depend largely on how individuals interpret and respond to stressors, which are influenced by internal and external factors.
