Abstract

The job practice report entitled "Internship Experience as a Waiter in the Food and Beverage Department: Sala Bar and Yue Restaurant at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel Malaysia" discusses about process creating a pocket book as motivation and education for students and explain some work experiences in the world of hospitality. This pocket book contains several points of view of work experience in food and beverage service such as Sala Bar and Yue. This job training the author gets a variety of interesting work experiences and understands new things in the work system in hospitality. In making this pocket book, the author identifies what elements support to be included in this pocket book. This process involves several data collection methods such as observation, interviews and documentation. Observation was done to directly observe how the system worked. Interviews were conducted to find out the procedures that had to be carried out during the job training. Documentation was done as visual support to highlight informational aspects from each department. As a result, the collected data was processed in the form of writing and supporting images, which were then laid out as part of the product development stage. The resulting pocket book aims to provide motivation and education to attract the attention of students who want to seek work experience abroad and support to grow better. During the production process, the author encountered several obstacles, such as difficulty in finding the right words to put into this pocket book. This hindered the production process because the author constantly revised the words that had already been written and was never satisfied. In addition, determining the layout design was also a challenge in itself. These obstacles were overcome in several ways, including: focusing on completing the content first before revising it, carefully planning the layout before starting the design, providing important details in the design, and using memorable images to convey the message in the pocket book. These strategies helped ensure that the final product was clear, informative, and visually appealing.
