Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological growth today, competition between companies and profit organizations is becoming increasingly intense. Oemah Tahu Purwokerto is a form of a profit company located in Karangcengek Village, Sumbang District, Banyumas Regency. This study aims to analyze the effect of job demand and job resources on work engagement through burnout as a mediating variable. This research is a quantitative study that uses numbers as analysis material. This study uses primary and secondary data. The respondents in this study were 40 employees who work at Oemah Tahu Purwokerto. The analysis technique in this study will use multiple regression with the Sobel test as a mediation test. The results of the analysis show that: (1) Job demand has a negative and significant effect on work engagement of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because the higher the work demands, the lower the work engagement due to reduced employee energy and enthusiasm, (2) Job resources have a positive and significant effect on work engagement of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because the higher the work support received, the higher the employee's enthusiasm and involvement in work, (3) Job demand has a positive and significant effect on burnout of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because the lower the work pressure, the less likely employees are to experience physical and emotional fatigue, (4) Job resources have a negative and significant effect on burnout of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because the greater the work resources employees have, the lower the level of work fatigue they feel, (5) Burnout has a negative and significant effect on work engagement of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because the lower the level of burnout, the higher the employee's involvement in their work, (6) Burnout is able to mediate the effect of job demand on work engagement of employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because low job demand reduces burnout, and low burnout then increases work engagement. (7) Burnout is able to mediate the influence of job resources on work engagement in employees at Oemah Tahu Restaurant, because high job resources reduce burnout, and low burnout encourages increased work engagement.
