Abstract

Latar belakang: Acne vulgaris merupakan gangguan kulit berupa peradangan kronis pada folikel pilosebasea yang ditandai dengan gejala berupa munculnya komedo, papula, pustula, nodula, dan kista di kulit. Prevalensi Acne vulgaris secara global sebesar 85% pada remaja usia 12-25 tahun. Di Indonesia, angkanya mencapai 87,5% sehingga menjadi masalah dermatologis yang serius. Meskipun tidak membahayakan secara fisik, kondisi ini dapat menimbulkan dampak psikologis seperti penurunan rasa percaya diri. Kepercayaan diri merupakan sikap positif terhadap kemampuan dan nilai diri, yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal maupun eksternal. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan hasil berbeda terkait hubungan antara Acne vulgaris dengan tingkat kepercayaan diri, sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut. SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian karena tingginya jumlah kasus Acne vulgaris serta belum adanya penelitian dengan topik serupa di sekolah tersebut. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara keparahan Acne vulgaris dengan tingkat kepercayaan diri pada siswa SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional dan teknik consecutive sampling, serta analisis data dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat. Hasil: Hasil analisis univariat menunjukkan Acne vulgaris paling banyak dialami oleh siswa kelas X berusia 16 tahun dan didominasi perempuan. Tingkat kepercayaan diri pada perempuan lebih tinggi dibandingkan laki-laki. Analisis bivariat menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif dengan kekuatan lemah antara keparahan Acne vulgaris dengan tingkat kepercayaan diri (p = 0,038; r = -0,260). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara keparahan Acne vulgaris dengan tingkat kepercayaan diri pada siswa SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto. Kata kunci: Acne vulgaris, kepercayaan diri, siswa SMA Background: Acne vulgaris is a skin disorder characterized by chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicles, presenting with symptoms such as comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. The global prevalence of Acne vulgaris is 85% among adolescents aged 12–25 years, while in Indonesia it reaches 87.5%, making it a serious dermatological problem. Although it does not pose a direct physical threat, the condition can cause psychological impacts such as decreased self-confidence. Self-confidence is a positive attitude toward one’s abilities and self-worth, influenced by both internal and external factors. Previous studies have shown varying results regarding the relationship between Acne vulgaris severity and self-confidence, highlighting the need for further research. SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto was selected as the research site due to the high number of students affected and the absence of prior studies on this topic at the school. Aim: This study aims to determine the relationship between the severity of Acne vulgaris and the level of self-confidence among students of SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach and consecutive sampling technique, with data analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods. Results: The univariate analysis showed that Acne vulgaris was most common among 16- year-old grade X students and was predominantly found in females. Female students demonstrated higher self-confidence levels than males. Bivariate analysis indicated a weak negative correlation between Acne vulgaris severity and self-confidence (p = 0.038; r = -0.260). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the severity of Acne vulgaris and self-confidence among students of SMA Negeri 5 Purwokerto.
