Abstract
The research was initiated because most theories suggest that females are superior to males in language-related fields. Therefore, the aims of the research are: (1) to determine whether males and females differ significantly in their final scores, (2) to know what factors possibly differentiate students’ learning, and (3) to know how students’ perception towards the implementation of project-based learning in the morphology subject. A quantitative approach and comparative research design were used in this study. This research involved 40 students for comparing the final scores and 32 students for the questionnaire. All of the samples were from the undergraduate students of the English education study program class of 2023. The research instrument used was documentation and a questionnaire. The researcher used an impaired t-test to analyze the first research question and descriptive statistics for the second and third research questions. The research results showed that there was no significant difference between males and females in their final scores in the Morphology subject. The significance value of 0.482, which is bigger than α of 0.05, indicates that there was no significant difference in their mean, and the null hypothesis should be accepted. Furthermore, the results of the questionnaire showed that some factors differentiate students in learning, such as motivation, confidence, parents’ expectations, and the English teaching method applied by the lecturer. Despite the trend, 55% of male respondents feel parents’ expectations put them under pressure to excel in the subject. Also, the overall perception of students toward the implementation of project-based learning was positive, proved by each mean recorded was above 3.00
