The Implementation of Cue Cards in Teaching Speaking on Describing Things (An Explorative Study to the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto in the Academic Year of 2019/2020). Ministry of Education and Culture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, English Education Department, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto Keyword: Teaching Speaking, Cue Cards, Descriptive. The research is entitled “The Implementation of Cue Cards in Teaching Speaking on Describing Things (An Explorative Study to the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Purwokerto in the Academic Year of 2019/2020)”. The research aims at: (1) Describing the implementation of cue card in teaching speaking on describing things (2) Figuring out the students’ responses on the implementation of cue cards in teaching speaking on describing things. This research was an explorative research study. In conducting the research, the researcher involved 29 students (18 males and 11 females) of seventh D class as the total sampling. This research used questionnaire, observation and interview as the instruments in collecting the data, which are written in the form of brief descriptions and charts. In analyzing the data, the researcher selected and displayed the data related to the research objectives. The data were presented through descriptive explanation. The result showed that (1) The Implementation of cue cards in teaching helping the students in speaking on describing things, throught the following stages: brainstorming, explaining the material, discussing the material, playing games, giving feedback, and reviewing material. (2) The students' responses toward the Implementation of cue cards in teaching speaking on describing things were positive. Based on the result of questionnaire, 84,6 % students stated that cue cards were an interesting media in teaching-learning speaking on describing things. The other data were obtained from the interview and observation stated that by teaching speaking on describing things three times, about 73% of students agree that cue card help them in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, organizing the structure of descriptive text (introduction and description), it also could be seen from the result of questionnaire that 81% of students felt easier in using language features in speaking on describing things. The suggestion for the English teacher, the implementation of cue cards should be adjusted to the standard of competence and basic competence of seventh grade students. For other researchers who have same interest may study futher in aplication of cue cards method in defferent materials or education levels
