Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of corporate governance on firm performance before and after COVID-19 pandemic. The firm performance in this study as measured by the return on asset (ROA) on companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Corporate governance mechanism is expected to minimize the agency problem, so the firm performance can be increase. The data that used in this study is secondary data and annual reports of 17 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2019-2020. The sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling method. The total number of samples in this study were 34 research samples. This study used classical assumption test and multiple linear regression as analysis instrument. The results of this study are the board size and audit committee have a negative effect and significantly effect on the firm performance. Independent of board of commissioners and board meeting have a positive effect and significantly effect on firm performance. There is a difference in firm performance (ROA) before and during COVID-19 pandemic.
