Abstract
Penelitian berjudul “An Analysis of Expressive Speech Acts Uttered by Steve Harvey in Little Big Shots Show” bertujuan untuk menganalisis tindak tutur ekspresif yang diucapkan oleh Steve Harvey di acara varietas Little Big Shots. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori tindak tutur ekspresif oleh Martínez (2013) dan teori strategi tindak tutur oleh Yule (2010). Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Peneliti menemukan empat tipe tindak tutur ekspresif, yaitu: menyombongkan diri 31 kali (41.9%), berterima kasih 17 kali (23%), mengucapkan selamat 16 kali (21.6%), dan meminta maaf 10 kali (13.5%). Steve Harvey paling banyak menggunakan ekspresi menyombongkan diri karena ia sebagai orang berkulit hitam menggunakannya hanya untuk lelucon, sesuai dengan kultur mereka yang menganggap ekspresi sombong sebagai humor belaka. Selain itu, Steve Harvey mengucapkan tindak tutur secara langsung 59 kali (80%) dan secara tidak langsung 15 kali (20%). Steve Harvey menggunakan cara langsung lebih sering dibandingkan dengan cara tidak langsung karena lebih lugas dan lebih sering digunakan di situasi tidak formal.
