Abstract

This research entitled “Factors Affecting GRDP Output of Manufacturing Sector in Central Java Province in 2011-2015 Period”. A country will grow rapidly, if it is able to transform its economic structure, from the traditional subsistence of agricultural economy to a more modern urban-based economy, and has a varied manufacturing industry sector. This research aimed to analyze the factors affecting GRDP output of manufacturing sector in Central Java Province. This research analyzed secondary data in time series in the form of data of 2011-2015 and cross section in the form of Regencies/Cities in Central Java obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS ) of Central Java in figures, articles, journals, and results of previous researches. This research used regression analysis of panel data. The result indicated that amount of labor, investment, HDI, and number of business units had a positive effect on GRDP output of manufacturing sector in Central Java. All independent variables, namely amount of labor, investment, HDI and number of business units simultaneously had an effect on dependent variable of the level of GRDP output of manufacturing sector. This means that the increasing amount of labor, investment, HDI, and number of business units increase will increase the output of manufacturing sector in Central Java. Based on the result, the implications are that both central and regional governments should expand the employment to accomodate the available labor force and reduce the unemployment rate as well as improve the quality of labor, so that it can further improve the people welfare that ultimately increase the GRDP output in manufacturing sector, and create a conducive investment climate that is able to attract domestic and foreign investors to invest in Central Java Province, as well as able to improve the business units through various policies.
