Abstract
Background : Anemia is one of the unresolved health problems especially for female adolescents. Female adolescents who have anemia cause more at risk during pregnancy in the future. One of the factors which caused anemia in female adolescents is the eating habits that haven‟t been good. The purpose of this study is describing the eating habits in female adolescents which are assessed by anemia in the work area of Puskesmas Kedungbanteng, Banyumas Regency. Methods : This study is descriptive qualitative study with 18 subjects, consist of 6 main subjects and 12 secondary subjects. Result : The eating habits of female adolescents are still not yet balanced and diverse consumption. Female adolescents often skip meals or just eat snacks. Female adolescents have low iron from animal protein intake, vegetables and fruits of daily food consumption. In addition, female adolescents often eat food that can inhibit the absorption of iron (tea, milk) after eating. The factors that can stimulate the eating habits of female adolescents are knowledge, socio economic status, peer influence, exposure of information from mass media, body image, access to health services, hygiene and sanitation. Conclusion : The eating habits of female adolescents is not yet organized, rarely bring packed meal, still lack of having food with diverse and balance nutrition.
