Abstract

Victims of Online Gender-Based Violence generally experience serious impacts and suffer losses such as psychological damage, social isolation, economic loss, limited mobility, and self-censorship, and therefore deserve protection. This study aims to determine the legal protection and case handling provided by the Banyumas Regency Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Children Protection (UPTD PPA) to victims of Online Gender-Based Violence. The type of legal research used is empirical juridical with a qualitative approach. The research specification is prescriptive analysis. The research was conducted at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children in Banyumas Regency. The method of determining informants was purposive sampling. The informants in this study were staff of the UPTD PPA of Banyumas Regency, psychologists of the UPTD PPA of Banyumas Regency, and advocates of the UPTD PPA of Banyumas Regency. The types and sources of data used were primary and secondary data. Data collection was carried out through interviews, literature, and documentation. Data processing methods included data reduction, data display, and data categorization. The results of this study indicate that the UPTD PPA of Banyumas Regency has implemented legal protection for victims of Online Gender-Based Violence in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence in Article 67 paragraph (1). The Banyumas Regency UPTD PPA has handled Online Gender-Based Violence cases in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), but has not been optimal due to obstacles from the families of victims of Online Gender-Based Violence.
