Safitri, Ayu. 2022 “English Vocabulary Acquisition Process of EFL Learners of 3rd Grade Students In SD Al Irsyad 2, Cilacap”. Thesis. Supervisor 1: Drs. Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, Department of Language Education, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. Keywords: Psycholinguistics, Foreign Language, Vocabulary, Language Acquisition, Child Language, Children Language Acquisition, This research focuses on analysing the process of vocabulary acquisition which occur in children foreign language acquisition at SD Al Irsyad 2 Cilacap. The purposes of this research are: (1) to find out the kind of English vocabulary acquired by the students, (2) to investigate the process of vocabulary acquisition at the Third Grade in SD Al Irsyad 2 Cilacap, (3) to find out students’ difficulties in acquiring English Vocabulary. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research were the third grade of SD Al Irsyad 2 Cilacap in the academic year of 2021/2022. Sample of this research were 15 students of class B. The data were collected through observation, test, and interview. The result of this research showed some points as follows: 1) The students acquire some types of vocabulary, those are verb, noun, place of preposition, and demonstrative. 2) The students get new vocabulary from imitating what the teacher says, do the exercise to reinforce the students’ vocabularies that the students got from the class activities. 3) The students experienced difficulties almost on four language skills, listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Those difficulties are the unfamiliar words that made them difficult in understanding the teacher’s instruction, pronunciation, read and write the vocabulary because some words do not have the same pronunciation with the written form. In conclusion, the students acquire new vocabulary in the classroom from listening to what the teacher says, listening to English songs, reading English book, and trying to imitate when the students listening to the teacher. There is also repetition of the reinforcement process by doing exercise, simple conversation, and speaking test to know the students pronunciation. The students experienced difficulties because they do not feel common with English, because of the less conversation of using English. So that language acquisition process is a little bit difficult to obtain with less natural classroom condition.
