Supervisor 1: Dian Adiarti, S.Pd., M.Hum. Supervisor 2: Erna Wardani, S.Pd., M.Hum. External Examiner: Prayogo Hadi Sulistio, S.Pd., M.Pd. Ministry of Education and Culture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, Language Education Department, English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. This research aims to comprehend and identify the process, issues, and alternatives in teaching English vocabulary to eighth-grade junior high school students using the Duolingo application. The purposes of this research are to know the use of Duolingo application in teaching and learning Englis vocabulary of English at 8th grade of Junior High School. Next, to know how does Duolingo application help the teacher and students in learning English Vocabulary at 8th grade of Junior High School. The methodology of this research is explorative qualitative research. The population and sample for this research were the English teacher and the grade 8C students of junior high school 1 Karangmoncol. Data was acquired through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The gathered information was analyzed using Miles and Huberman's theory, and the outcomes were presented via data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The research's findings are as follows: (1) One of the resources for learning foreign languages that can be used with the Autonomous Learning model to support the learning process is the Duolingo application. In this case, the Duolingo application can be used as an alternative for teachers to increase student learning independence and can understand how the learning process is appropriate so that it can improve vocabulary learning in English. (2) As a result, the researcher discovered that Duolingo is shown to inspire subjects in learning English since the gamification element of the Duolingo application motivates students to keep playing and demonstrates numerous varied contrasts between learning via application and book.
