Abstract

ABSTRACT Cholifa Aisyah, Nur. 2023. “Analysis of Instructions in English Textbook Entitled "The 21st Century English for SMK" for Grade 12 Vocational High School in terms of Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor domains”. Thesis Supervisors 1: Erna Wardani, S.Pd. M.Hum., Supervisors 2: Novita Pri Andini, S.Pd., M.Pd. Examiner: Tuti Purwati, S.S., M.Pd. Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, Department of Language Education. English Education Study Program, Purwokerto. This study aimed to analyze: (1) the relevance between the instructions in the textbook entitled “The 21st Century English for SMK” for grade 12 vocational high school in terms of cognitive domain, (2) the relevance between the instructions in the textbook entitled “The 21st Century English for SMK” for grade 12 vocational high school in term of affective domain, (3) the relevance between the instructions in the textbook entitled “The 21st Century English for SMK” for grade 12 vocational high school in term of psychomotor domain. The study was a descriptive qualitative content analysis. For the data collection, the researcher used the observation checklist table. The subject of this study is English Student Book Entitled “The 21st Century English for SMK” for grade 12 vocational high school. To analyze, it was through the techniques of collecting the data, classifying the instructions, identifying the domain, and evaluating the level instructions of each domain. The results showed that: This book contains 123 instructions from 7 Chapters, 45 instructions are relevant to Cognitive domain, 30 instructions are relevant to Affective domain, and 48 instructions are relevant to Psychomotor domain. The relevancy of instructions in this textbook is that the cognitive domain categorized the instructions as “High Order Thinking Skills” (HOTS) in accordance with core competence 2 in 2013 curriculum. For Affective domain, the instructions are categorized as “Highest Level.” in accordance with core competence 3. The last is the result of Psychomotor domain, which is accordance with core competence 4, the instructions in this textbook are categorized as “Simple.” From the research findings, the researcher suggests the book writer increase and improve the instructions in this book, especially in the psychomotor domain. The researcher hopes there will be someone who continues to analyze the questions or the contents. Keywords: Affective Domain, Cognitive Domain, Instructions, Psychomotor Domain, Textbook Analysis.
