Abstract

The background of this research was based on the importance of English teaching methods in a learning process in an inclusive classroom because learning English in an inclusive classroom is challenging both for students and teacher. The use of teaching methods can be an important factor for students to help them achieve learning outcomes and understand the content of the course. Because of this condition, the researcher conducted research to find out the teaching methods used in learning English in an inclusive classroom at SMP Permata Hati Purwokerto, the implementation of those methods through the teaching and learning process, and the common challenges faced by the teacher in implementing the methods in an inclusive classroom. This is a qualitative case study research. Data were obtained through interview and observations. The data from those techniques were written in the form of descriptions. The result of this research were (1) the English teaching methods used by the teacher in an inclusive classroom are translation and audio-visual methods (2) the implementation of the teaching methods is by one-on-one session between teacher and student (3) Fewer parents’ collaboration is the challenge in implementing the teaching methods.
