Abstract

The job training was carried out in November – December 2022. The title of the job training was “Translating Subtitle of a Short Movie Entitled “CAPCIPTOP!” by Ravacana Films from Indonesian to English”. There were four purposes of this job training. The first was translating the subtitle from Indonesian to English. The second was explaining the translation processes. The third was explaining the obstacles in translating. The last was explaining the solutions to the obstacles in translating. In the translating stages, four translation processes were used. They were analysis, transfer, restructuring, evaluation, and revision. Moreover, there were eight translation techniques used. They were amplification, borrowing, literal translation, modulation, description, generalization, reduction, and substitution. There were obstacles in translating the subtitle of the “CAPCIPTOP!” short movie. They were a lack of knowledge of vocabulary and quite difficult to find the implied meaning of the sentence. Then, the solutions to the obstacles were using a dictionary and asked for help to the proofreaders and supervisors. The aim was to make the results of the translation more commensurate and acceptable.
